AMS Group would like to welcome maritime industry stalwart, Gary Prosser to the team.

Gary will fulfil a Non-Executive Director position on the board of AMS Group.

He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the commercial maritime sector, adding to our board which already has a strong naval and legal background.

With a maritime career spanning more than 40 years, Gary has helped shape the maritime industry here in Australia and internationally. He was instrumental in introducing compulsory marine pilotage laws for the Torres Strait to protect sensitive marine habitats; effectively setting a legal precedent for international shipping laws.

As Deputy Chief Executive Officer at AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) he oversaw the running of everything from search and rescue, through to aids to navigation and implementing international and national standards for maritime safety.

He spent five years in Paris as Secretary General of IALA (International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities).  He is also currently serving as Maritime Commissioner at the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB).

Gary has a swag of awards to his name including the Peter Morris award for services to the Australian Maritime Industry and the medal of Saint Germain-En-Laye.

With a strong management and safety background, Gary’s maritime and governance experience will ensure AMS Group continues to steer the optimal course during a period of growth and technological advancements
