AMS Group has signed a partnering agreement with Sagetech Avionics to supply Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific with advanced lightweight aviation transponders for unmanned aircraft in military and civil applications.
US-based Sagetech Avionics is an aerospace technology company promoting and empowering safer flights for remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) and manned aircraft in shared airspace.
As part of the agreement, Sagetech Avionics included their entire suite of transponders for defence primes, military end users, and civil operators. In addition to reselling the product, AMS Group will serve as Sagetech’s official in-country resource per the Australian Government’s Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Program, providing a variety of value-added services and support to Australian customers.
Sagetech Avionics’ transponders bring proven reliability with more than 1.5 million combat flight hours on multiple airframes. The latest product to be released is the MX12B Mode 5 IFF transponder, the only product available on the market with this capability for size and weight suitable for small to medium RPAs. It is also a mandatory flight safety requirement for operations with NATO from 01 July 2020 to differentiate between friendly and potentially hostile RPAs in the field.
“We are pleased to partner with an Australia industry leader like AMS Group to extend our reach into the Oceania region of the world,” said Tom Furey, CEO of Sagetech Avionics. “It’s an exciting market with a lot of RPA development happening right now. We are confident that with their local technology expertise and customer base, AMS Group is a great choice to deliver our sophisticated transponder solutions to OEMs in this region.”
AMS Group CEO Nigel Bagster said, “What impressed us most about Sagetech’s technology was the low size, weight, and power of such an essential part of an avionics package. Importantly, Sagetech fits well alongside the organisations and capabilities with which we have aligned ourselves, and we look forward to working with and supporting Sagetech in future opportunities.”
